Instagram Publishing

Publish Reels and image posts to Instagram from BlackOps Center, direct from the Instagram Graph API, with support for posting now or scheduling for later.

Publish a Reel (video) or an image post with a caption to Instagram from BlackOps Center, using an existing media asset from your library — direct Meta Graph API integration, posted now or scheduled for later.

Requirements

Instagram publishing requires:

  • An Instagram professional account (Business or Creator) — a personal account cannot be connected.
  • That account must be linked to a Facebook Page.

If neither is true, connecting will fail with a clear error explaining what to fix: link your Instagram account to a Facebook Page and switch it to a professional account type in the Instagram app, then try again.

What's included

  • Native publishing — direct Instagram Graph API integration. No third-party schedulers. The two-step container/publish model is hidden from the UI.
  • Image or Reel — a feed photo or a Reels video, each with a caption, from an existing BlackOps media asset.
  • Post now or schedule for later — the scheduler runs every 5 minutes.
  • Live publishing quota — the daily publishing limit is read directly from Meta's own content_publishing_limit endpoint rather than a hardcoded number, so it never drifts from whatever Meta's current cap actually is.

Platform constraints

  • 2200 characters per caption — validated at draft time.
  • Every post needs media — there is no text-only Instagram post.
  • No public delete endpoint — drafts can be removed in BlackOps, but published posts must be deleted in the Instagram app.
  • Reels may block for up to ~2 minutes while Meta processes the video container before publish completes.

How to use

  1. Open Instagram Studio in the admin sidebar (under the Promote tabs).
  2. Click Connect Instagram and authorize via Meta OAuth.
  3. Click New Post, choose Image or Reel, and paste the media asset ID from your media library.
  4. Write a caption, then save as a draft, publish immediately, or schedule for later.

MCP tools

All Instagram operations are exposed through the BlackOps MCP server, so any connected AI assistant can compose, schedule, and publish on your behalf:

  • post_instagram
  • get_instagram
  • get_instagram_by_id
  • patch_instagram_by_id
  • delete_instagram_by_id
  • post_instagram_by_id_post
  • post_instagram_by_id_schedule
  • get_instagram_accounts
